Correspondence and papers relating to the official biography of Laurence Olivier, Baron Olivier of Brighton, commissioned by the Olivier family to Derek Granger. Granger assembled from the Olivier papers, before they were acquired by the British Library (Add MS 79766-80750), a number of photocopies of letters and some research material and began drafts of the first five proposed chapters, which form the bulk of this collection and have been retained as showing Granger's methodology and work. However, by 2000 progress had slowed and it was agreed that the commission would be re-assigned to Terry Coleman, whose biography Olivier : the authorised biography, was published London: Bloomsbury, 2005.
