Add.Or.15-19
5 drawings of Muhammadan and Hindu ceremonies.
By Sevak Ram (c.1770-c.1830), a Patna artist, 1807-1809.
Water-colour; 17 by 23 ins.
Purchased 14 June 1954.
Note: These drawings belonged to the first Earl of Minto, Governor-General of Fort William 1807-13. Other pictures from the same series were purchased by the Victoria and Albert Museum (I.S.74-1954) and the Chester Beatty Library. As Minto did not visit Patna himself, the drawings may have reached him as a gift. Although only the first drawing is inscribed with the artist’s name, the others are in the same style and by the same hand.
