Born Kent. Bengal Army. Cadet 1814; Ensign 1815; Lieutenant 1816; Captain 1823, retired 1832. Served in the Third Mahratta War, First Burma War and Arakan Campaign. Wrote ‘Memoirs of a Griffin,’ 2 vols, London,1845, illustrated with engravings after his own drawings.
