BYERS, JAMES BROFF (1785-1870)
Born Bideford, Devon. Second Lieutenant Bideford Volunteers prior to joining Bombay Infantry. Cadet 1800, arrived India 1801; Lieutenant 1803; Captain-Lieutenant 1816; Captain 1817. Retired 1819 due to ill-health. He was ordained in 1820 and was vicar of the parish of Lamphey in Pembrokeshire until his death.
