SMYTHIES, GERTRUDE FRANCES MORSE (1855-1929)

Daughter of Major Henry Aston, Bombay Army. Married Arthur Smythies, Indian Forestry Service in 1884. He served at Dehra Dun, Shillong, Mandalay and Nagpur. Mrs. Smythies was in England in 1894 when her husband was in Assam, and again during his three years in Burma.

Drawings and a sketchbook with views and figure studies in India, the Suez canal and Europe, between 1882-1902. Mostly water-colour, various sizes, some with later inscriptions by the donor. Four drawings appear to have been removed from end of sketch book.
