A codex containing three texts:
ff 2v-22r : A Chagatai grammar and vocabulary explained in Persian and compiled by Khawajah Emir. The author describes himself as a descendant of the Naqshibendi Shaykh 'Ubaydallah Ahrar, who died in Samarqand in 895 AH. His family had migrated from Turkestan to India and, having been settled there for a long period, lost the use of Chagatai. The writer, however, became intimately acquainted with the poet Mirza Muhammed Hasan Qatil, who had insisted that they converse together in Chagatai. The present work was compiled under his direction and received some additions derived from the Chagatai treatise of the late Nawab 'Imad al-Mulk Bahadur (Ghazi ad-din Khan, who died around 1207 AH), from the Midar al-Afazil, and from the Nisab of Emir Khusrev. This work contains the following parts: Preface (ff 3r-5v); Conjugation of the verb كيلماك (ff 5v-7v); Vocabulary of verbs classed under such headings as "actions connected with the hand, with the foot, with the eye, with the lips, with the tongue, etc." (ff 7v-11r); and Vocabulary of nouns under the following categories: numerals, names of kinship, conditions of people, trades, tribes, miscellaneous, parts of the body, weapons, ornaments, colours, dress, food, vessels, habitations, rivers, plants, music, heaven, animals, and adjectives common to humans and animals (ff 11r-22v) ;
ff 24v-63r : The love story of Prince Mahru, son of King Firuzbakht, and of Khubehihreh, daughter of a rich merchant called Khwajah Merkez, in prose. The story was composed by Mirza Qatil. The author says in the preamble that he had met, in Kalpi, Khwajah Emir Khan (the author of the preceding work), an eager collector of Chagatai writings, who had given him a charming tale on the above subject, and had requested him to re-write it in the language of his ancestors;
ff 64v-117v : The adventures of Shirin Shema'il, son of the merchant Kamran, and of his wife Melihah Khatun, apparently by the same author as the above text.
Persian and Urdu glosses can be found at the end of the second and third texts.
The manuscript was copied in nastaliq hand in India in the 18th century.
