This part contains 2 texts:
ff. 1r-58r, Wace, Roman de Brut in Anglo-Norman verse. Incipit (f. 1r): 'Ky vot oyr e wot saver / De rey en rey e de eir en eir / ke cil furent e dunt vindrent / ke engleterre primes tindrent'. Numerous leaves are missing between ff. 48 and 49, with the loss of lines 10,527-12,772 of the text (see Weiss, 2002). Explicit (f. 48v, at the end of a quire): 'Li un alerent bordoier. / E lor ignels chivals broscher'. Incipit (f. 49r, at the beginning of a quire): 'Ceus kainz lor hommes chacoient / E a torbes les cravendoient'. Explicit of the text (f. 58r): 'Ci faut la geste de bretons. finit. / E de la lingne des barons. / Ki de la lignage bruti vindrent. / Kengletere longes tindrent. / Puis ke dex encarnaciun / Prist pur notre Rancon . / Mil e cent cincante. cinc anz / Fist mestre wace cest romanz'. Colophon (f. 58r): 'Ci finist li Brut. / E comence li Gaimar';
ff. 58r-v, An extract from the Anglo-Norman Description of England. This text was formerly believed to be part of the lost opening of Geffrei Gaimar's Estoire des Engleis, and is attributed to Gaimar in the colophon described above. For editions of this text, see Bell 1993 and Lestorie des Engles 1888, pp. 278-89, where this manuscript is collated with ll. 201-80 and 23-82. Incipit (f. 58r): 'De guales a vus plerai / De cels de la ws contrai'. Explicit (f. 58v): 'De westsexe cist ert reis / El pais mist noveles leis. / Par pruesce les reis conquist / E a lui subiez les mist'.
Decoration: (ff. 1r-58v): Initials in red or blue, some with pen-flourishing in the other colour. Penwork decoration in the lower margins (e.g. ff. 12r, 20r, 23r), upper margins (e. g. 34v), and beginning of lines (e. g. 40v).
