- This series contains two baptism registers (numbers 7 and 8) recording details of the baptisms of "brown and coloured people" in the city of Matanzas. Both volumes are titled "Libros de Bautismos de Indios, Pardos y Morenos", but only the baptisms of Pardos y Morenos are recorded. The original volumes cover the dates 1810-1814.

- Some of the images are difficult to read due to the condition of the originals which suffer from ink seepage and stains.
- Arrangement:
- Each register has two indicies at the beginning of the book. The first index lists baptised people alphabetically by their Surname. This index gives two numbers - the first is a page number reference and the second refers to the running registration number used in each book. The superscript "v" indicates that a particular entry will be found on the verso of that page number. The second index lists baptised people alphabetically by their Christian names. The registers have been given volume numbers. This series contains volumes 7 and 8. This catalogue adds an EAP Reference number.
- Administrative Context:
- When the first Cuban churches were founded they included only baptismal books for Blancos and books for Indios. Later on, when the Spaniards decimated the Cuban native population, and African slaves began to be imported, they were included in the books that prevously registered Indios. Up to the beginning of the nineteenth century some priests continued to name those books as "Libros de Bautismos de Indios, Pardos y Morenos", but by then the common practice was to leave the term Indios out.
