Harriet Cohen Papers. Vols. i-viii. ‘Trunk 1’: letters from Harriet Cohen to Arnold Bax; 1914-1934, n.d. Almost all are undated. Where the date was clear from the postmark, it has been written by the cataloguer at the top of the first sheet of each letter. The majority of the letters were sent to Bax at 19 Chester Terrace, Regent’s Park; Crossways, Beaconsfield, Bucks; or 155 Fellowes Road, Swiss Cottage, though letters were also sent to many other addresses, particularly in 1918. Envelopes with addresses other than these three have been retained. Envelopes have also been retained where the date was unclear from the postmark. If a letter had no envelope, or an envelope without a postmark, a conjectural date, followed by a question mark, has been supplied by the cataloguer. Those dates have been derived from the letter’s position in the original arrangement of the material.
