Correspondence and papers of Emily Cephalonia Napier (b. 1827, d. 1908), the younger of the two natural daughters of Sir Charles James Napier, and of her husband, General William Craig Emilius Napier (b. 1818, d. 1903). He was Military Secretary, Bombay (1846-7); A.D.C. to the Commander-in-Chief, India [Sir Charles Napier] (1849-50); Assistant Quartermaster General in the Crimea (Feb.-Aug. 1855); Military Superintendent, Royal Military College (1858-61); Commandant, Staff College (1861-4); Brigadier-General, Dublin (1865-6); Director General of Military Education (1866-74); and Governor, Royal Military College (1875-82). He retired in 1885.
