CORRESPONDENCE and other papers of John Flaxman, R.A., sculptor (d. 1826), and of his household, which was composed of Ann (née Denman), his wife (d. 1820), Mary Ann Flaxman, his sister (d. 1833), and Maria Denman, his wife's sister (sale of her effects, Apr. 1862). From Sept. 1787 to 1794 Flaxman and his wife were absent from England and had their headquarters at Rome. Mary Ann Flaxman accompanied the Hare Naylor family abroad (1804- 1806), chiefly at Weimar and in Switzerland. The undated series of letters are arranged in alphabetical order. Most of Miss Denman's Flaxman collections were sold at Christie's, Apr. 1862. From the Morrison sale, as above, lot 2666. Cf. also Add. MS. 39840. Eleven volumes and 39 note-books.
