OXENDEN PAPERS. Vols. VIII, IX. Letter-books of the E. India Co.'s Council at Surat, containing copies of letters sent out from Surat, 1662-64. Each volume is preceded by an index of addressees. In the beginning of Vol. VIII two letters of April 1664 "from aboard ye Richard & Martha," are added, one (f. 3) to James Ley, 3rd Earl of Marlborough, 25 Apr., the other (f. 4 b) to Matthew Andrews. Two letters to the Company in England, dated 28 Jan. 1661 and 4 Apr. 1664, in Vol. IX, ff. 21, 41, and a letter to Fort St. George, dated 16 Feb. 1661, f. 35 b, are printed by G. W. Forrest, Seletions from letters, despatches and other State papers preserved in the Bombay Secretariat, Home Series, vol. i, pp. 14, 36, 33.
