The series consists of files and volumes of papers mostly relating to British interests and policy in Persia [Iran], and the Persian Gulf, collected by George Nathaniel Curzon. Subjects covered by the papers include the Seistan [Sistan] region, British trade with Persia and trade routes in Persia, Russian influence in Persia, railways in Persia, and the Baghdad Railway.
The papers include correspondence, handwritten notes by Curzon, despatches, reports, memoranda, maps, pamphlets and other printed publications, newspaper cuttings, and photographs.
The series also includes two letters to Curzon from Abdur Rahman Khan, Amir of Afghanistan (1880-1901) [Mss Eur F111/361].
