- In 1804 the East India Company purchased a piece of freehold ground with a dwelling house in Church Row (formerly Magpie Alley), Fenchurch Street, from Eleazer Philip Salomons for £3,500. The house was auctioned in lots for £705 2s 5d soon after it was acquired and the materials were cleared from the site. The Company subsequently dropped its plans to build upon the ground. In 1816 the Company purchased a small piece of ground from the Synagogue in Church Row. The two pieces of ground became part of the Fenchurch Street and French Ordinary Court warehouses.
