- Scope & Content:
- (a) Warehouse on the north side of Haydon Square [L/L/2/661-696]. The was erected by the East India Company between 1768 and 1770 on the site of properties in Parkers Gardens and Harrow Alley purchased from William Franks, John Holloway, James and Elizabeth Davis, and John Leman. An extension was built in 1801 on ground bought in 1800 from Samuel Wright. (b) Rumball's Warehouse on the south side of Haydon Square [L/L/2/697-699]. The warehouse built by Thomas Rumball stood on ground which was partly leasehold and partly freehold. In 1799 the East India Company paid £3,500 for the assignment of the leases held by Rumball, and in 1801 paid £2,750 to Edward Bury for the residue of his term of the leasehold part of the ground and for the freehold part. The Company used the premises as a private trade warehouse.
