Two complete drafts in typescript (both considerably revised by hand), with additional draft material in typescript.
The novel was first published in America in 1964 as The Burning World, and subsequently re-published in the United Kingdom in 1965 as The Drought, although neither title appears on these drafts. The earliest complete typescript (Add MS 88938/3/5/3-4) is entitled 'The Illuminated River'.
