Many of them derive from Petty's attempts to respond to two pamphlets concerning the Irish land settlement: 'Queries', apparently by David Fitzgerald and 'A Narrative of the Sale and Settlement of Ireland'; see also Petty-Southwell Correspondence, pp. 147-150.
