Eleanor Farjeon Papers. Vols. lxxii-lxxv. Mostly material to be included in Book Two of the Memoirs; 14 May 1915-4 Jan. 1961, n.d. Mostly typewritten. Book Two was intended to cover the years from 1904 to Herbert Farjeon’s death in 1945. The initial title was to have been ‘Collaborators’ Honour’ (a term applied to collaborations between Eleanor and Herbert Farjeon, meaning that neither revealed who wrote what) and was subsequently changed to ‘Myself When Younger’. On the leaf of a folder with the complete draft, Eleanor Farjeon wrote that the draft of Book Two was ‘Unfinished. Perhaps two-thirds done’ (Add. 83150). The proposed foreword to Book Two, ‘Joe in Paradise’ and parts of Chapter One ‘America’, are taken from Eleanor Farjeon’s foreword to ‘Rip Van Winkle’: The Autobiography of Joseph Jefferson (1949).
