A fair copy of 47595, art. 1, revised by Allen and subsequently by Lord John Russell, who published it, with his own additions (also included in the present MS.) as vol. i of the Memorials (1853). The MS. consists of:-(a) The text, substantially as published, of Books the First and Second (47596, ff. 1- 127; Memorials, i, pp. 1-101);-(b) The MS. as sent to the printers of the last part of Book the Second (47596, ff. 128-135; Memorials, i, pp. 95- 101);-(c) The MS. as sent to the printers of part of Book the Third (47596, ff. 136-213; Memorials, i, pp. 102-142) and most of Book the Fourth, Part the First (47597; Memorials, i, pp. 320-480).
