Correspondence, press articles and other papers concerning an episode of controversy over Chapter 8 of the contribution of Working Group I to the Second Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), 1995. John Houghton's perspective is given in his autobiography, 'In the eye of the storm' (Oxford: Lion Hudson, 2013), pp. 160-191.. Facsimiles and printed emails, some with John Houghton's notes or annotations, record the response of various climate scientists and members of the IPCC to the controversy, including Ben Santer, Richard Moss, Tim Wirth, David Griggs and Simon Shackley. With copies of 'Global Change' (vol. 2, no. 1, February 1996) and the 'Summary for Policymakers and Technical Summary of the Working Group I Report', part of the Second Asssessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Some correspondence relates to other aspects of the IPCC's Second Assessment report.
