- In 1835 when the East India Company was winding up its commercial operations, the pepper and spice warehouse was retained for use as the Military Storekeeper's warehouse, otherwise known as the India Store Depôt. The property was sold in 1864 to William Tite for £40,000 when a new Store Depôt was built at Lambeth.
