- The East India Company purchased a piece of land for £100 from the East India Dock Company in 1807 in order to build a shed for caravans. The shed stood near the entrance to the East India Docks and had a small dwelling at the rear of the premises. The shed and land in Robin Hood Lane were sold by the Company to Thomas Ward in 1837.
