The forty-seven files forming the 'Oil and Minerals' subject files were produced by the English Office at the Bahrain Political Agency.
The 'Oil and Minerals' subject files mainly contain correspondence between the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, the Political Agent at Bahrain, other British authorities, local authorities and representatives of the oil companies on the subject of the petroleum industry in Bahrain.
The topics covered include:
- Monthly statements on shipments of oil and payment of royalties by the Bahrain Petroleum Company Limited (BAPCO) to the Ruler of Bahrain;
- Employment of labour by BAPCO, Arabian-American Oil Company (ARAMCO) and Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC);
- Conditions of employment and industrial injury reports and compensations by BAPCO.
