The six files forming the 'Books and Publications' subject files were produced by the Political Agency in Bahrain.
The 'Books and Publications' subject files mainly contain correspondence between the Political Resident at Bushire, the Political Agent at Bahrain, British and international printed and booksellers, on the subject of purchase of books and subscriptions to newspapers and magazines for the Agency.

- The 'Books and Publications' subject files are based on a subject file system, with 'Books and Publications' being allocated to File 31, followed by an oblique stroke and a file number for every successive file opened on the subject, from 31/2 to 31/4, followed by a part number, for example 31/2 III. There are also traces of another file system, crossed out, with a file being allocated to file 17/6 III.
