The file contains correspondence related to the purchase of books by the Political Agency at Bahrain, subscriptions to newspapers and periodicals. The documents in the file are advertisements, orders for books and periodicals, cheques, and receipts of payment.
The principal correspondents are: The Times; The Times Book Club; F P Baker & Co Limited; Durrant's Press Cuttings; Luzac & Company and various printers and booksellers in the United Kingdom; and the Political Agent at Bahrain.
The documents in the file date from 19 December 1934 to 17 May 1937. The file contained notes from a later file on 'Supply of Books and Periodicals' (after folio 10); these notes, which refer to documents from 22 July 1945 to 7 December 1950, have been removed and re-housed at the end of IOR/R/15/2/1761.
