P.G. Wodehouse Correspondence: Townend, William
- Scope & Content:
-
Correspondence between P.G. Wodehouse and William Townend, a fellow student at Dulwich College and a lifelong friend and occasional collaborator.
The letters concern Wodehouse’s and Townend’s writings, their personal life, and their pets.
Townend worked in journalism with Wodehouse in the early 20th century and on Performing Flea, a book which consists of revised excerpts from many of these letters. The marks in the margins of some of the letters were made by Derek Grimsdick, the editor at Herbert Jenkins, indicating which passages were to be used in Performing Flea.
