(1) Two notebooks entitled 'The Nature of Painting' and 'The Nature of Poetry', both containing copied passages from various authors.
(2) A small album of newspaper cuttings concerning the purchase by the Arts Council of the painting 'Autumn Landscape' by William Gear. The purchase provoked some public controversy, and the album contains a number of letters published in The Daily Telegraph (1951).
The file also contains four newspaper cuttings concerning the exhibition 'The Unknown Political Prisoner' organised by the Institute of Contemporary Arts (1953).
