- A collection of letters written and received by Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf at Bushire, in 1850. Other correspondents include Arnold Burrowes Kemball, Acting Political Agent in Turkish Arabia, and Arthur Malet, Chief Secretary to the Government at Bombay. The topics covered in the letters include: the evacuation of British merchants from Bushire; the separation of the town and district of Bussorah [Basra] from the Pashalie; death notices; a marriage certificate; and the plans of Rowland Macdonald Stephenson, Managing Director of the Calcutta Railway, for a railway from Europe through Turkey, Asia Minor, Persia, to the Indus.
