The volume contains correspondence and telegrams between the Political Agent in Bahrain, the Political Resident in Bushire, the Financial Adviser to the Government in Bahrain, Charles Dalrymple Belgrave, and representatives of the Bahrain Petroleum Company Limited (BAPCO) on reservation of land and infrastructures to be built on Sitra Island.
The volume contains technical drawings and maps by BAPCO:

- 'Proposed reservation for Refinery, water wells & lines to Sitra.' (3 copies on ff. 47B, 142A and 182);
- 'Permanent Camp Reservation' (f. 70);
- 'A reservation for marine and sub-marine facilities at Zellaq' (f. 129);
- 'Reservation for the Outfall Sewer right-of-way East of the Easterly Concession Boundary Bahrein Is' (f. 134);
- 'Shafaba Garden - N.E. of Parcel #4, Refinery Reservations' (f. 142B);
- 'Sitra fish trap locations present and proposes barge channel Sitra Pier to Sitra Anchorage', folded map (f. 197B);
- 'Refinery Reservation to Sitra Terminal' (f. 222);
- 'Parcel N. 5' (f. 230);
- 'Reconnaissance map Doha Manifa to Maqta' hand coloured and sketched, with notes written by hand by Max Thornburg (f. 235).
The volume also includes semestral 'Abstracts of accounts of oil measured' and 'Statement on Royalty' and monthly details on 'Shipments of oil from Bahrain' for 1937 and 1938. There are some newspaper cuttings, on the oil industry in the Gulf.
