The 73 volumes and files forming the 'Oil and Minerals' subject files were produced by the Confidential Office at the Political Agency in Bahrain.

The majority of the files and volumes date from 1932-1951 except for IOR/R/15/2/411, containing documents from 1916.

The 'Oil and Minerals' subject files mainly contain correspondence between the Political Resident at Bushire, the Political Agent at Bahrain, other British authorities, local authorities and representatives of the oil companies on the subject of oil extraction and production in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
