This file contains correspondence between British officials regarding the deportation of 'indigent' Persian nationals from Bahrain. The correspondence relates to two separate incidents:
1) a period in 1938/9 when a number of Persians were deported from Bahrain and the Government of Iran subsequently made a complaint to the British authorities (ff 2-42). This section includes a broader discussion of the status of Persians in Bahrain and whether children born in Bahrain (to Persian parents) are able to attend the Persian School in Bahrain. A Government of Bahrain notice (in Arabic and English) related to this issue can be found on folio 34.
2) the deportation of a number of foreigners from Bahrain in 1944 (mainly Persians) following a series of house break-ins that were blamed on an increase in the number of foreigners in the country (ff 43-60).
