This file contains correspondence (mainly telegrams) relating to arrangements for a conference in Basra involving senior inter-service officers from the Imperial Defence College to study the military and economic problems of the Middle East and their effect on strategy.
Due to work relating to constitutional change in India the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf was unable to attend the conference and instead nominated Noel Gordon Jackson, Political Agent, Bahrain. Also included is a 'Circular Despatch' on Anglo-American co-operation in the Middle East.
