The file contains the statement of budget estimates for the Political Agency, Bahrain for the financial year 1948-49, and associated financial statements and correspondence for the same period.
The correspondence is between staff of the Political Agency, Bahrain, and the Political Residency in the Persian Gulf.
The budget estimates cover the following areas of expenditure: pay of officers; pay of establishment; allowances and honoraria etc.; secret service; contingencies; supplies and services; rents, rates, and taxes; Dubai hospital establishment; and Trucial Coast.
Also included are detailed pay statements for officers and establishment; estimate of receipts from judicial fees, court fee stamps and British income tax (folio 12); statement of leave and pension contributions of Government of India staff on deputation (folio 17); and estimated details of expenditure under office allowance (folio 19).
The correspondence consists of covering letters for the statements and estimates.
