The Finance and Accounts files contain information about the financial and accounting administration of the Political Agency, Bahrain, and its subordinate Agencies at Sharjah and Doha, mainly during the period 1930-50.

The files include:

• Agency budget estimates and statements in Form "E", giving details of the Agency's annual expenditure under the various heads of wages and salaries, allowances, supplies and services, grants, etc. for the period 1933-49 (IOR/R/15/2/1119-1129);
• Agency bank and funds accounts (IOR/R/15/2/1131-1134, 1140);
• expenditure incurred by the Agency on behalf of Royal Air Force (RAF) personnel serving in the Persian Gulf, (IOR/R/15/2/1135);
• records of payments made to the rulers of various Gulf states, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Kalba, and Bahrain in exchange for air facilities and other services (IOR/R/15/2/1136, 1137, 1141-1144, 1165, 1167);
• the transfer to the Political Agent, Bahrain of financial responsibility for the Residency Agent, Sharjah (IOR/R/15/2/1145);
• records of payments made to the commanders of ships of the Royal Indian Navy, and payments on behalf of British Army departments (IOR/R/15/2/1147-1148);
• pay and travelling allowance bills of various members of Bahrain Agency staff, including the Assistant Political Agent, and the Medical Officer (IOR/R/15/2/1152-1156);
• financial records relating to Dubai Hospital (IOR/R/15/2/1156, 1160, 1169);
• the administration of Foreign Office accounts (IOR/R/15/2/1158, 1159, and 1161);
• expenditure from the Mission Fund on official entertainment (IOR/R/15/2/1166);
• records of the payment to the Government of Bahrain of a share of the net receipts from fees collected in the Joint Courts (IOR/R/15/2/1168).
