The file concerns expenditure by the Political Agency. Bahrain (and the British Agencies at Qatar and Sharjah) on 'ceremonial' expenses (official entertainment) chargeable to the Agency's Mission Fund.
The file includes correspondence from the Political Agent, Bahrain (Cornelius James Pelly); the Political Residency in the Persian Gulf; the Political Officer, Qatar (Arthur John Wilton); the Political Officer, Trucial Coast, Sharjah (Patrick Desmond Stobart); and departments of the Government of Bahrain.
The papers cover: correspondence and accounts concerning the provision of coffee for hospitality purposes; supply of infra-red lamps for the Shaikh of Dubai; allocation of money to the Mission Fund; expenditure in connection with a dinner party given in honour of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi; statement of Mission Fund expenditure for the quarter ended 30 September 1950; and expenses in connection with the installation of temporary lighting at the Political Agency, Bahrain.
