‘File 18/16 Construction of new office for Political Resident’s Staff’

The file contains papers, mostly correspondence, invoices and insurance certificates, relating to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf’s new office building at Bahrain. It includes papers relating to the following: cement required for the construction of the new office; the shipment of paint, furniture and office equipment for the office; the electric installation of the building; the supply of fans for the office; and a new telephone and line connection being installed in the office.
The correspondence is largely between the Political Agent at Bahrain, and the following: HM Consul at Bushire; the Secretary to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf at Bushire; the Executive Engineer, Independent Persian Gulf Sub-Division (also known as the Executive Engineer, British Consulate-General, Bushire); Mackinnon, Mackenzie and Company, Karachi; and the State Engineer, Bahrain.
