This sub-sub-series mostly consists of files relating to the maintenance of, repairs to, and building works being carried out at, the Bahrain Political Agency building and compound.

It includes files relating to the following:

• the move of the Post Office from inside the Political Agency building to two rooms adjoining the guard room [IOR/R/15/2/1633]
• the repair and maintenance of the Political Agency tennis court [IOR/R/15/2/1634]
• the residence of the Assistant Political Agent, Bahrain [IOR/R/15/2/1639]
• proposed additions and alterations to the Sepoys’ Barrack, with a view to converting it into a Court and Office for the Indian Assistant [IOR/R/15/2/1640]
• the Indian Assistant’s Court at the Political Agency [IOR/R/15/2/1641]
• electric water pumps for the Political Agency [IOR/R/15/2/1642]
• accommodation for Political Agency clerical staff [IOR/R/15/2/1644]
• air conditioning for the Political Agency buildings [IOR/R/15/2/1645]
• a recreation ground for the Political Agency [IOR/R/15/2/1647]

The sub-sub-series also includes: a file regarding the rental of residential properties in Bahrain for the use of the staff of the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf while on tour in the country [IOR/R/15/2/1643]; and a file relating to the Political Resident’s new office building at Bahrain [IOR/R/15/2/1648].

The papers in the files in this sub-sub-series largely consist of correspondence, but also include: architectural drawings, shipping orders, invoices, completion certificates of repairs, sale catalogues, advertisements, insurance certificates, and abstracts of cost estimates.
