The file contains correspondence, with enclosures, between the Political Agency at Bahrain and the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) relating to the crash of BOAC flying boat number G-AHZB on 23 August 1947. The aircraft crashed into the sea on landing, killing ten of the twenty-six passengers on board. An inquiry was carried out by the Political Agency in partnership with the Bahrain State Police.
The file contains the following papers:
- certified statements concerning the loss of personal possessions by some of the survivors (folios 3-8);
- witness statements and findings of the Political Agency court inquiry into the cause of death of the ten casualties (folios 10-13);
- reports on the cause of death of each casualty by Ronald Cochrane, Chief Inspector of the Bahrain State Police (folios 15-24);
- medical reports on the cause of death of each casualty (folios 25-30);
- notices of death for each casualty, completed by Geoffrey Parker, Bahrain Station Superintendent for the BOAC.
Folios 46-47 are internal office notes.
