This file contains correspondence related to the granting of a concession to Petroleum Development (Trucial Coast) Limited, a subsidiary of Petroleum Concessions Limited, for the right to explore for oil in the Shaikhdom of Kalba.
The file contains copies of agreements made in this regard between Petroleum Concessions Limited and Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Regent of Kalba.
The majority of the correspondence in the file is between British officials (primarily at the Political Agency in Bahrain and the India Office) and oil company executives and is therefore in English, but the file also contains some direct correspondence with Shaikh Khalid that is in Arabic (with English translations).
The file contains a chart that compares the wording and terminology used in the oil concessisons that were granted in Dubai and Kalba (folios 14-17).
