- Scope & Content:
- This volume relates to the financial situation in Qajar [Qājār] Persia [Iran]. It includes quarterly reports prepared by financial advisers from the United States of America under the supervision of the Persian Minister of Finance. These were submitted to the Political Department, India Office, by HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Court of Persia, Tehran. The contents are mainly in English, with text occasionally in French, Russian, and Persian. Papers comprise India Office Political Department memoranda and enclosures in print, typescript, and handwritten annotations, notably covering and including:
- The quarterly reports comprising seven installments (fifth to eleventh reports), covering the period 23 December 1923 to 21 June 1925
- The purpose of the quarterly reports, described as 'propaganda to encourage the investment of foreign capital'
- The British note of a change in the printer of the eleventh report, a Perso-Soviet printing press, the Trade Mission of the USSR; earlier reports were printed at: 1) the Persian 'Parliament Press' [or Maṭba‘ah-'i Majlis]; 2) Bagherzadeh [Bāqir'zādah]; and 3) Bosphore [Bosphorus].
