- Letter to Maynard Smith from Tom Cavalier-Smith dated 26 Jan 1994. Refers to several enclosed articles including some later annotated by Maynard Smith (86840/86-88) in addition to the unannotated 1987 paper by Cavalier-Smith 'Bacterial DNA Segregation: Its Motors and Positional Control' for Journal of Theoretical Biology. Also refers to a publication list (Add MS 86840/89). Two of the aforementioned enclosed articles are also referred to in handwritten notes by Maynard Smith (86840/93)

This possibly refers to an article by Cavalier Smith in the Journal of Theoretical Biology (1987) also referred to in a letter from Cavalier-Smith to Maynard Smith 26 Jan 1994 (86840/85); a section titled, 'origin of mitosis' refers to 'Cavalier-Smith A NY Acad S 1987 F.54', possibly a 1987 article by Cavalier Smith in Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences (86840/87); and a section titled, 'Origin of linear chromosomes.'
