- Title:
- Royal Literary Fund Annual Reports Vol. II
- Scope & Content:
-
Bound volume containing the reports for 1807-1813 inclusive. Also included at the beginning is an additional 41 pp. pamphlet of subscription lists and accounts prepared in April 1807, probably due to the previous report (1805/1806) being a combined one.
Reports contain an 'Account of the Institution of the Society for the Establishment of a Literary Fund', the 'Constitutions of the Society' and an article on the 'Transactions of the Society', by Charles Symmons, James Anderson and John Nichols, 15 Aug 1807. Each report lists the Fund’s subscribers and officers (Patrons, President, Vice-Presidents, Council, Committee, Treasurers, Registrars and the Clerk), along with details of their financial contributions. Reports also contain accounts of contributions to the permanent fund, details of stock purchases, an abstract of the Fund’s cash account and a list of 'Subscriptions to the House Fund.' The exception is the 1813 report, which is truncated to include no lists of contributions and extensively marked for correction.
Reports also contain poems as listed below:
1807 (41 pp. + 77 pp.): 'Poetical Contributions' from William Thomas Fitzgerald, Henry James Pye, Samuel Birch and P. Kelly
1808 (78 pp.): 'Poetical Contributions' from William Thomas Fitzgerald, Henry James Pye and Charles Symmons
1809 (12pp. + 79 pp.): 'Poems for 1809' by William Thomas Fitzgerald and George Crabbe (in 12 pp. pamphlet and repeated in the report)
1810 (12 pp. + 79 pp.): 'Poems for 1810' by William Thomas Fitzgerald and Charles Symmons (in 12 pp. pamphlet and repeated in the report)
1811/1812 (67 pp. + 12 pp.): 'Poems for 1812' by William Thomas Fitzgerald and Charles Symmons (in separate 12 pp. pamphlet)
1813 (12 pp. + 27 pp.): 'Poems for 1813' by William Thomas Fitzgerald and Charles Symmons (in separate 12 pp. pamphlet)
A printed letter from Thomas Pelham, Earl of Chichester, and Richard Yates to members of the Literary Fund on resolutions to disseminate information on the Fund and a copy of the 'Abstract' prepared as a result of these resolutions are glued in to the back of the volume.
