Bound volume containing the annual reports for 1915-1920 inclusive.
The documents for each year contain a History of the Fund, a list of the officers of the corporation (Patron, President, Vice-Presidents, Council, Committee, Registrars, Treasurers, Auditors, honorary officers, Bankers and Secretary), and lists of Members of the Corporation with details of their donations, Donors and Subscribers not yet qualified as members, miscellaneous benefactions, 'Deceased Benefactors of Twenty Pounds and Upwards,' 'Officers of the Corporation, Deceased' and 'Chairmen of the Anniversaries.' For each year there are also Auditors' reports, Treasurers' reports and a Registrars' report for the previous year and an updated table of grants made in previous years, as well as details of the stewards of and donations made at the Anniversary dinners.
For each year, there are also varying records as described below:
1915 (54 pp.): Report on the Special Appeal launched to raise funds in place of the Anniversary Dinner, which was thought to be inappropriate during the war, including letter dated Apr 1915, with list of contributors
1916 (52 pp.): Report on the Special Appeal launched to raise funds in place of the Anniversary Dinner, which was thought to be inappropriate during the war, including letter dated Mar 1916, with list of contributors
1917 (54 pp.): Report on the Special Appeal launched to raise funds in place of the Anniversary Dinner, which was thought to be inappropriate during the war, including letters dated May 1917 and Jun 1917, with list of contributors
1918 (50 pp.): Report on the Special Appeal launched to raise funds in place of the Anniversary Dinner, which was thought to be inappropriate during the war, including letter dated Jun 1918, with list of contributors
1919 (50 pp.): Appreciation of Arthur Llewelyn Roberts, the Secretary of the Literary Fund, who died 17 Oct 1919, with plate; Report on the Special Appeal launched to raise funds in place of the Anniversary Dinner, which was still thought to be inappropriate, including letter dated Apr 1919, with list of contributors; Hugh John Cole Marshall appointed Secretary
1920 (66 pp.): 'The Anniversary Meeting', 3 Jun 1920, with transcript of speeches (chair: Edmund Gosse; principal speakers: Godfrey Rathbone Benson, Baron Charnwood; John Collings Squire; Sir Valentine Chirol)
