This codex contains:
ff. 1r-102r: Bede, De temporum ratione, copied in France (possibly in Saint Denis) in the 9th century.In the early 11th century the manuscript was in England, where interlinear and marginal glosses in Latin and three glosses in Old English were added (ff. 33r, 39v). This manuscript also features a table corresponding to the content of chapter XXII on the mathematical calculations needed for determining the phases of the moon is a lunar table with interlinear musical notation added in the 11th century (f. 26r; see Santosuosso, ‘Music in Bede’s De temporum ratione' pp. 255–59).
f. 102v: lists of Carolingian rulers, Popes and Byzantine emperors copied in the 9th century.
f. 103r: lunar calendar copied in the 9th century.
f. 103v: De horologio, a fragment of a computistical table copied in the 9th century.
ff. 104-109, which contain Anglo-Saxon regnal lists and genealogies and the Metrical Calendar of York, were removed from the volume, mounted in perspex, and are now contained separately in Cotton MS Vespasian B VI/1.
f. 110r-v: notes by John Joscelyn on early English manuscripts and texts, made in the 2nd half of the 16th century.
f. 111r-182v: William of Newburgh, Historia rerum Anglicarum, copied in the early 13th century.

John Joscelyn (b. 1529, d. 1603), Old English scholar and Church of England clergyman: his annotations and notes (ff. 78r; 110r-v).
Sir Robert Bruce Cotton (b. 1571, d. 1631), 1st baronet, antiquary and politician. Cotton’s collection was augmented by his son, Sir Thomas Cotton (b. 1594, d. 1662), 2nd baronet, and grandson, Sir John Cotton (b. 1621, d. 1702), 3rd baronet, who bequeathed the entire collection of books and manuscripts to trustees ‘for Publick Use and Advantage’, 12 and 13 William III, c. 7. Formed one of the foundation collections of the British Museum in 1753.
