1. ff. 3-6. 'Sir Thomas Wilsons generall heads of things in the office of the Papers', a schedule of the arrangement of material in the State Paper Office; 29 July 1618. Wilson, who was Keeper of the Records at Whitehall, 1606-1629, was the first person to attempt a systematic arrangement of the records. A copy of this item by Thomas Astle (d.1803), with added documents, is Stowe MS. 548, ff. 2-7.
2. ff. 8-262b. List of enrolled items among the Public Records, chiefly concerning foreign affairs and trade, and English possessions and subjects in France, tempp. Hen. III - Edw. VI; mid 17th cent. The main sources are the Patent, Gascon, Norman, Scottish and Treaty rolls.
3. ff. 267-350b. List of treaties and related documents in the Treasury at Westminster, temp. Edward the Confessor - 1619 (see f. 274b). The text is similar to a section of Arthur Agard's 'Compendium Recordorum'; see Add. 25256, ff. 14b-112 (a copy of a PRO MS.), dated 31 Dec. 1610. In the edition of this work by Thomas Powell, printed under the title The Repertorie of Records . . . , 1631, the material is reduced to a table, pp. 97-120. Arranged under countries. Memoranda occur on the delivery of documents to the Treasury, 16 and 20 March 1621 (ff. 274b, 293b, 305b) and on storage, eg. f. 305. Included is a list of treaties in the 'drawinge tills', ff. 333b-350b.
4. ff. 376b-400. 'Ex Registro Bullarum in Custodia Cameriorum in Thesaurar: Westm:'. A contents list of the bulls, tempp. Innocent III - Nicholas IV, is at ff. 376b-381b. Followed by lists of other material apparently in the same volume: matrimonial treaties and related documents, including material relating to the earldom of Gloucester, temp. Edw. I, ff. 381b-386b; touching the rights of the Crown, temp. Edw. I, ff. 387-390; miscellaneous, Ireland and Norway, Hen. III - Edw. III, ff. 390-400.
