' p. 50, l.3, in the version privately printed from the Chetham Library MS. for the Brotherhood of the Rosy Cross, 1859. Other copies are Add. MSS. 32091, ff. 44-82b and Harley 2204, ff. 1-88b.
9. ff. 83-184b. Ecclesiastical forms; 16th cent. A note by Beale, f. 83, states that they were 'Out of an old booke which I borowed of Mr Saye whose father was Principall Register for Ecclesiasticall Causes. June 1588', i.e., Add. 48012, see the description thereof above. The forms of ff. 98-184b are taken from 48012 (where they are marked with a pencil cross); those at
ff. 83-97b are from another source.
Paper; ff. xxiii + 189 + 88*. 16th-cent. foliation. Folio. XV-XVI centt. A composite MS: artt. 5-7 are single gatherings from other MSS. Art. 5: 10 leaves, lacks 8 and 9. Art. 6: 20 leaves, 1-3 are stubs; 4 (f. 23) is numbered contemporaneously 'xvi' at the bottom centre, and 4-20 are mostly numbered i-xvii, usually on both sides, in the bottom outer corners. The name 'John Ask' is written on f. 23. Art. 7: 12 leaves. Various watermarks include unicorns, hands, bulls heads with stars, an anchor, etc.; the exact equivalents are not in Briquet. Binding: inverted conjoint leaves of a 15th-cent. MS. written in double columns with large illuminated capitals and smaller red and blue initials, containing Albertus Magnus, 'De generatione et corruptione', i, 1-2 (part) (f. ii and front cover) and 'De natura locorum', iii, 7 (part)-8 (part) (back cover and f. xxiii); Opera Omnia, ed. A Borgnet, 1890, iv, pp. 345-348, ix, pp. 578-580. Leather ties. Fragments of two other unidentified 14th-cent. MSS. are in the binding, ff. iii-vi, xix-xxii. Numbered '25' on spine. A coloured label, letter 'G', f. i.
