1. ff. 1-97b. Commons proceedings for the fourth session of the first parliament of James I; 14 Feb.-23 July 1610. A poor copy of Harley MS. 777, an expanded contemporary version of the official Commons' Journal, which survives for this session only in note form (CJ, i, pp. 392-454). On these and other MSS. of the session's proceedings, including Add. 48119, art. 9, and Cotton MS. Titus F.IV, see Proceedings 1610, pp. xxxix-liii.
2. ff. 99-117b. The 'Apology' of the Commons, a statement of grievances presented to James I on 20 June 1604. Very little of the text is recorded in the Commons' Journal, although the version in W. Petyt, Jus Parliamentarium . . . , 1739, pp. 227-243, purports to be from the Journal. On the 'Apology' see Commons 1604-1610, pp. 125-140. Other copies of the text are Lansdowne MS. 490, ff. 3-24, and Stowe MS. 344, ff. 1-10 (part).
3. ff. 118-207b. William Hakewill's speech against impositions; 28 June 1610. Printed as The Libertie of the Subject against the pretended power of Impositions . . . , 1641; see also State Trials, ii, pp. 407-475. Other copies are Add. MSS. 48119, art. 8 and 25271, Lansdowne MS. 490, ff. 25-132, and Stowe MS. 25, ff. 32-91 (two copies).
