WILLIAM LAMBARDE, 'ARCHEION, OR OF THE HIGH COURTS OF JUSTICE OF ENGLAND': preceded by a dedicatory letter to Sir Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury 1605, Lincoln's Inn, 22 Oct. 1591. Copy, 17th cent. Not including the emendations made 1596-1598 (see C. H. McIlwain and P. L. Ward, Archeion . . . by William Lambarde, 1957, pp. 145-176) but fuller than the 1579 text (much more on Star Chamber, etc., see ibid., pp. 48-96, 149 etc.). Similar texts (but lacking the letter to Cecil) are Add. MSS. 48023, art. 26 and 22591, ff. 127-150b, Harley MS. 5206, ff. 2-74b, Royal MS. 17 A.XXXIX; Harley MS. 2207, ff. 96-114b has some of the Star Chamber sections of 1591 added at the end of a 1579 type text. For MSS. of the shorter 1579 version see the description of Add. 46410, ff. 3-14b; see also ibid., p. 176n.
