CATALOGUE OF CREATIONS OF ENGLISH NOBILITY, from the Conquest to 1597, with arms in blazon, compiled in 1599 by Thomas Burdenell of Doddington, co. Hunt., afterw. (1628) Baron Brudenell of Stonton, co. Leic., and (1661) 1st Earl of Cardigan, whose signature appears, f. 1. At the end (ff. 44b-48) is a list of Knights of the Garter to 1597.
Paper; ff. ii + 49. Folio. 1599. Bound in inverted vellum leaves: front cover, leaf from an unidentified 14th-cent. medical treatise (including a chapter 'de singultu'), written in double columns with paraphs of red and blue; back cover, leaf from an English 15th-cent. antiphoner of monastic use, beg. at Sext for the first Monday in Lent and ending at Lauds for the first Thursday in Lent; rubricated, paraphs in red and blue, initial letters in pen-and-ink filled and flourished in green and yellow. Numbered '88' on the front cover.
