'RELATIONE DE SPAGNA Sommario delle Cose dette dal Clarissimo Signor Thomaso Contarini, ritornato dall' Ambasciaria sua Il 1593. A di 20. di Aprile'; 1593. Contarini was appointed Venetian ambassador to Spain 18 June 1588 and read his Relazione on the date given above; Archbishop of Candia, 4 July 1597, he died before 7 Jan. 1605. The Relazione was published from the autograph minutes in Museo Correr MS. Malvezzi 42 in Albèri, ser. 1, v, pp. 401-442. Other copies are Add. MSS. 48123, art. 1 and 16517, ff. 390-426b. Add. 8355, ff. 136-163 contains Contarini's Relazione of Germany, and a journal kept by a member of his embassy to the United Provinces in 1610 is Add. 62087. Beg. 'Nel rappresentare alla Serenità Vostra, et alle Signorie Vostre Eccellentissime la grandezza'. Ends 'et per complire il debito mio'.
Paper; ff. iii + 58. 17th-cent. foliation. Folio. XVII cent. One Italian hand throughout, the same as Add. MSS. 48105-48106, 48146-48147. The spine of the original vellum binding, numbered '119', is mounted in the volume (f. i).
